Mikey and I hit the Parade for a while after stopping at George's for his Pride festivities.

As usual, I found the parade BORING, but it was fun to see people that I haven't seen in quite a while. Saw some hot guys, some scary people, and some VERY cute puppies.

Ran into Darren from softball and his entourage. They live in Laurel Village and their house was a party; 11 stories up!!

Met up with Mikey's friend Jonathan from his summer internship at a law firm.

We left the parade far before it was over and headed back into the park and took some private time to just walk around and look at things. After a while we gave the crowd a call and joined up with everyone. We walked the park, went back up to George's to eat (and cool off), and then headed back down.

It was a fun day, but also a long one.

HAPPY PRIDE!

Work has been crazy. It's been fucking HOT at home. Haven't been sleeping well.

But, I'm looking forward to this weekend!!

I have the day off from Target, get to spend the weekend with Mikey, and get to roam the park with my friends.

This year I'm actually going to the parade. I've got some mixed emotions about that because it turns out to be VERY long and way too political. I'll go and have fun, I always do. Mikey REALLY wants to go, so I can't say no.

Star Wars on Saturday!! I can't wait!

Anyway, more after Pride and hopefully lots of pics!

My Boyfriend beats me!!

Or, at least, that's what people are going to think after yesterday's games against the Sterling. I played ShortStop for a while, but got 4 grounders hit to me and each of them found a way to take a unique hop and bruise the shit out of me!

All I ask is that if I'm going to get bruised I WANT THE STICH-MARKS!

I have 2 places on my left forearm that aren't looking too pretty. The one closest to my wrist it still swollen and the other looks like ring-worm.

I also got clobbered in the jaw, but that on is hidden by my goatee. My jaw hurts tho.

Steph and I switched spots mid-inning and when the ball was launched at her the SAME thing happened! She got NAILED in the knee and ended up with the stitch-marks... I SO jealous...

I downloaded pics of the games this morning, just got to get the out to Flickr. Keep an eye out for new ones!!

YAY!

Lucy is back!!

She was telling me about the accident and I was SHOCKED she wasn't in worse shape. Sounds very scary. I'm glad to have her back tho.

Still LOTS to do and get caught up on.

Training all day today, so I'm writing you with lunch right in front of me.

Hope you all are having a GREAt day!!

The meeting, part 2

Everything went well. I learned that the next 4 months are going to be hell for our department and that a successful data migration will either ruin us or launch Eschelon forward...

No pressure.

We also learned that more opportunities may arise in our department and HOPEFULLY that'll get me out of this unchallenging, boring, lame-ass internal help-desk position I've held for 3 years. However, I'm not sure how I'd adapt to a job that actually offered a challenge. I'd have to shift gears FAST.

Oh, well... One day at a time and ask me if I feel like this at the end of July. That's when the gates of IT hell will be opened unto me. :)

Meeting.

Today we have our first 'official' meeting with our IT counterparts from the company Eschelon purchased. These are the ones that are staying on board including our new VP of Application Development.

He's already rubbed me the wrong way a couple of times. Whe we were introduced by my manager, he shook my hand but turned to start a conversation with one of his workers from the west coast. Also, the other day, he basically ran right into me in the hallway and didn't say 'excuse me' or anything of the sort. Just glared and walked into the copy room.

He's not my favorite right now, but we'll see how he does this morning.

Smile!

What makes you smile?

I was walking in to work today and I found myself smiling often. Umm... HELLO?!?! It's Monday! I'm supposed to be grumpy and complaining how short the weekend was (it WAS short, but we just won't go there).

Here's what made me smile today:

  • Thinking of Mikey and I sitting in the back of Jitters talking about the future, men, camping, trips and just connecting for a while.
  • The black, standard poodle spotting me from across the shuffleboard court with the 'I WANT TO PLAY!!' eyes.
  • The little girl and her mother walking into the YWCA and talking about how much fun she's going to be having.
  • Being able to share a some common interests with my boyfriend (even tho hiking in Tibet may be a tough goal)
  • I found a tent that actually had a separate smaller room for your pets to camp with you.

Anything make you smile today?

WTF is he doing?!?

So, at the gym this morning, I had just reached my locker and we getting ready for a HARD shoulder/bicep workout. I was digging my clothes out of my bad when this cute, nicely built 'kid' comes back from the shower and opened a locker near mine. I'm getting ready and setting up my mini-disc when I notice he's pouring something from a small little apothocary bottle onto his head.

Then he proceeds to grab another from his back and put some of the contents on his pits. I was a bit baffled by this, but then I realized it was scented oils. They smelled REALLY good.

So, before I put my headphones on, I asked him 'What are you using the smells so good?'

He looked at me with a 'deer-in-the-headlights-oh-my-god-someone-is-talking-to-me-in-the-gym' kind of look. Then, in a lisp that would rival Daffy Duck he said, 'I uthe oilth and lothion. Ith probably the lothion that smellth the most.' He quickly turned away, haphazardly threw on his clothes and exited the locker room in all about 30 seconds.

Apparently I scared him off. :)

I just shook my head, laughed and hit the weights to try and make myself a little bit leaner.

Heya Peeps!

Wow... I'm UBER-tired today. The big storm rolled thru last night around 3:45AM and I had to get up and close all the window because many of them had puddles forming near them! :)

Tough thing was I couldn't fall back to sleep. I finally dozed off around 5am, but I get up at 5:30am to get ready for work... ICK.

Oh well, I'll just be a mess at practice tonight. :)

Things in my life are good, just getting busy with works and on nice days I get to take the girls out into the park (although lounging in the front yard is just fine with them). Caught up with a good firned last night (marla) and the Friday's downtown is closing at the end of the month. She's a little worried about getting a job, but she's good. She'll get one!

Anyway, time for work so I will chat with ya later.

HOLY SHIT-BISCUITS BATMAN!

THE BAD PUPPIES WON THE 'D' DIVISION!!

After panicking about not having enough players, we rounded up some friends and members from another MPLS team to enter the North Star Classic this past Memorial Day weekend.

The tournament started with a 2-game 'round-robin-ish' thingy to determine where you'd start in the brackets. We won one and lost the other. That put us smack dab in the middle of the division and up against the Saloonettes (from Mpls). We go to the feld and only two of their people had shown up. So, win by forfeiture. *shrug* Not pretty, but we'll take it!

Two more wins on Saturday and our sole reason for winning those was so we wouldn't have to play at 8am in the morning!!

We were back at the fields for our game against the Penetrators (from MPLS). They had stayed out late drinking and partying and I think we got a little too confident. Our bats didn't get a chance to push in enough runs to win the game. We lost 6-4.

Onto our 2nd/3rd place battle against the Sterlings (also from MPLS). Peter, the coach, is also a good friend of mine. They are probably one of our best competitors in our league and they usually SKOOL us. The Pups were on FIRE and DID NOT let them win. We ended up getting enough runs to invoke the 'run rule' in the 5th inning.

YAY!! Guaranteed 2nd place! I was in shock. I had no idea we'd be able to make it that far. All I could do is make sure our bench and our fans we louder than the competitors. The only people who could win this were us! We needed to do this!

Enter the Penetrators...

Yes, that's right. The drunk-ass bitches that beat us earlier Sunday were back again and undefeated. This meant that we'd have to try and beat them TWICE in order to claim the Championship.

In the first game, our bats were on FIRE!! We climbed to an early lead and they kept sending their line drives and pop-ups right into our gloves! It was VERY exciting! Our fans were going nuts!! We even split-up the Mavericks (who are a team our level that are VERY competitive in the league) and had a bunch of them cheering for us! A bunch of the Grizzlies cheered us on from the first game all the way to the Championship. THANKS GUYS!!

We had some issues in this game with the coach of the other team not telling us when he subbed people in and out. He also didn't have anyone keeping score and one inning gave himself an extra run that out score-keeper argued, but we let them have it in the end.

I think the Penetrators' partying got to them because they gave that game up with us scoring 10 more runs than them.

Now, the REAL Championship. The Penetrators were struggling. After being steam-rollered by us in the last game (and nursing hang-overs) the Penetrators were NO MATCH for the fury of the Minneapolis Bad Puppies!!

We won this last game AGAIN with the 'run rule' and made our day!!

This tournament meant a lot of Mickee (who played an OUTSTANDING 2nd base) and gave us all a very good sense of what it's like playing together and winning.

Thanks to everyone who played and all our fans!! THANK YOU!!

Now I need to get to the gym and stretch my legs... Stairs were giving me issues yesterday :)
